Upon looking at the chicken liver sponge, you would not be able to believe that a whole digestive system full of organs could be present inside of it. That is because there isn't one. along with a nervous and respiratory system, all sponges in general have no digestive systems. the chicken liver sponge has a very simplistic way of getting food from its environment.
As it is well known, sponges dont have fins or legs so they can not walk to hunt their prey. instead, they feed on particles in the water that are present everywhere. they will also filter out bacteria and gain the nutrients this way through their pores. they do this by expanding and shrinking in size to ventalate water through their whole bodies and excrete it out the other end. This simplistic technique helps all sponges live and take in the nutrients they need.
